More than 50 class action lawsuits have been filed in connection with an April data breach involving cloud storage firm Snowflake Inc., with prominent companies like Ticketmaster, AT&T, and Advance Auto Parts also named as defendants. Plaintiffs lawyer Jeff Ostrow has moved to coordinate the cases into multidistrict litigation. Initially filed on June 13, these cases have revealed Snowflake’s critical role in the breach, prompting expectations of further legal actions. The breach, affecting over 165 entities and nearly 10,000 companies, was acknowledged by Snowflake’s Chief Information Security Officer Brad Jones, who linked it to industry-wide identity-based attacks. This incident has drawn the attention of U.S. Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Josh Hawley (R-MO), who have demanded more information. Ostrow’s motion seeks to consolidate the cases under U.S. District Chief Judge Brian Morris of Montana, paralleling the MOVEit data breach litigation approach.
