Tesla is disbanding its Dojo supercomputer team and shifting to external technology partners including Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices for compute and Samsung for chip manufacturing. Program lead Peter Bannon will depart, and remaining staff are being reassigned. The move comes amid wider executive exits and the emergence of spinoff DensityAI. Elon Musk confirmed Tesla’s change in approach on X, writing that the next-generation AI chips going into the company’s vehicles “will be excellent for inference and at least pretty good for training. All effort is focused on that.”
